Mike’s integrity and work ethic has propelled the company’s growth, placing it on the Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest growing companies in America in 2007 and 2009.  Mellace also earned Entrepreneur of the Year award recognitions from both the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and Ernst & Young (as finalist for San Diego) in 2007.

Mike Mellace has committed to make social responsibility a top priority.  The Mama Cares Foundation, established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has provided assistance to many individuals, families, and organizations in need.  Mama Cares Foundations has recently focused efforts on eliminating severe acute malnutrition, which is the underlying cause of death of millions of children around the world every year.  Mike Mellace is passionate about nourishing hope locally and nationally.

Brad Dacus founded Pacific Justice Institute, in 1997, where he serves as President with a principle efforts directed to defending religious liberties and parental rights. The Pacific Justice Institute has a network of approximately a thousand volunteer affiliate attorneys and handles more cases on the West Coast than any other organization of its kind. Mr. Dacus served as Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Phil Gramm, and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas, School of Law.

Mike Runion is vice president of Business Development/Sales and co-founder of Mellace Family Brands.  Runion brings more than 10 years of sales experience working with nationally recognized brands, including SSPA and Total Gym, and genuine enthusiasm for Mellace Family Brands.  Before taking the sales world by storm, Runion was a staff sergeant serving in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard.  He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from National University.

Denny has worked at C.R. McMullen & Co since 1977 and began running it in 1981.  He and Bev, his wife of 29 years, became the owners in 1984 when they bought the company which at that time had negative net worth, only one client in the portfolio, one employee, and less than $2 million in annual sales.  Over many years, they slowly built the company with the best year being 2008 with $19.5 million in revenue, 17 team members and a 22,000 sq ft building built in 2003.  Denny and Bev have two children.  Katy is a teacher in Phoenix and Corey is attending George Fox University.  Denny’s community involvement is a very long list including, church growth group leader, Young Life “Campaigners”, church planter, along with coaching basketball, baseball to name a few.

Short Bio:  Joseph LaRussa has been in the construction industry for nearly 3 decades.  Since 1974 he has been a principle in Ghianni-LaRussa Group (www.glrgroup.com) which includes plaster and drywall, fireproofing, and other construction related elements.  He has been the President for over 20 years.  He is serving as the President of the Board for Habitat for Humanity and after completing an advanced degree in theology at USD, he added the role of Chair of a Convene group in San Diego.  His wife of 30 years, Frannie, is a well known artist and business owner.  They have three adult daughters.

Short Bio:  After coming to faith as a child under his father’s ministry, Jim attended a Christian liberal arts college and earned a Bachelor of Science in Theology.  He has been a Senior Pastor of four congregations spanning 20 years of ministry.  After leaving the pastoral ministry Jim started a non-profit ministry called “Strategy for Living.”  This organization was established to help people and leaders in the business community live out their faith and learn how to apply biblical principles in running their companies  He now has his own business using the background of working with leaders from a spiritual perspective to coach and mentor business leaders.

Dir. for the past 13 years.  Plant With Purpose, formerly known as Floresta, is a Christian nonprofit organization which reverses deforestation and poverty.  This transformational process impacts the lives of the rural poor in seven countries around the world.  He is the author of the recent book “Tending to Eden: Environmental Stewardship for God’s People”.
